GENERAL SECURITY
AWARENESS TRAINING
has now
been in existence since November 2007 and all staff working
in the Restricted Zone (RZ) of a Department for Transport
controlled airport will be holding a current certificate.
However, newly recruited staff will need to undergo this
training as a prerequisite to applying for an airport ID
pass. For example, airside office workers, airline
operations and passenger service staff, engineering and
maintenance staff, aircraft refuellers, shop, catering, and
other staff in the departure/arrivals areas. In short all
staff other than those listed below who are required to hold
an airside pass.
Who is exempt?
Certain personnel are exempt from General Security Awareness
Training if they have already received equivalent DfT
Directed security training, for example :
- Ground Security Staff and
Supervisors
- Aviation Security Managers and Instructors
- Aircrew and Aircrew Instructors
- In-Flight Caterers (who have attended DfT security
training for in-flight catering)
- Cargo Operatives (who have received DfT Cargo
Security Training)
SCHEDULED CLASSROOM COURSES :
TrainingTeam have developed a course to meet the DfT
requirements. This takes approximately three hours with a
limit of 15 to the number attending.
Classroom training has the following
advantages:
- the student can talk to the
instructor
- points can be clarified immediately
- it is easier to cope with language difficulties
- access to a PC is not required
- training is completed on schedule
IN – HOUSE COURSES : TrainingTeam can
also provide this training at your own venue and at a time
to suit you plus in-house courses can be tailored to the
exact requirements of the customer.
GSAT training covers the following subjects :
- The Threat to Aviation
- Objectives and Organisation of Aviation Security
- Restricted Zone Protection and Access Control
- Prohibited Articles
- The Trainees Role in Aviation Security
The student will be tested on the above
as part of the course and on attaining the required standard
will be issued with a named and numbered Certificate of
Attendance.
