General Security Awareness Training (GSAT)
The Department for Transport has changed the security training requirements for airport staff requiring airside passes. All new applicants must now successfully complete a GSAT training course. Existing pass holders have until 19th January 2009 to complete the same training. The course takes 2 hours on one of our scheduled training days at Heathrow or Gatwick. Alternatively, staff may attend courses made available at your own premises. Certain categories of staff are exempt from GSAT as they already receive equivalent – or more in-depth - security training as part of there job function when complying with the relevant Direction. Examples of staff who may be exempt are:
The National X-Ray Competency Test (NXCT) for Cargo Screeners In line with passenger baggage screening staff, all new cargo X-ray screeners must now pass a computer-based competency test before operating X-ray equipment. In addition, all existing cargo screeners (as registered on 10th December) must pass the same test by 30th June 2008 in order to remain qualified (previously it was thought that this cut-off date would be 1st April). In both cases, the operator must repeat and pass the test within 13 months of the original test in order to remain qualified. Training Team is fully accredited to offer NXCT and details of both in-house and scheduled testing days are available by contacting us direct. The test is programmed to last approximately 1½ hours but we would recommend a short refresher session for candidates renewing an existing X-ray qualification before taking the test. Air Cargo Security Courses 2008 We have increased the number of centres at which we will be holding Air Cargo Security courses during 2008. Levels 1-3 will be available at Heathrow, Manchester and Stansted whilst Level 4 and L1/L2 Refresher training will be availabale at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted. Have a look at the section "Course Schedules" for dates. New Venue for 2008 TraingTeam is pleased to announce the addition of Glasgow to the list of centres for 2008. We will be holding Dangerous Goods by Air courses (initial and revalidation) in April and November. |
